Site Visit - Budget 2001
26 January 2001
Site Visit Marlborough - Saturday, 3 March
You are invited to take a look at the Chimney Creek and Ramshead stands on Saturday the 3rd of March.
I suggest we meet at 12 noon at the start of Bush Rd and State Highway 1 at Taumarina, just north of the Wairau River a few kilometres north of Blenheim. Bush Rd is the way into the Waikakaho Valley where Chimney Creek is, so we shall go there first.
Bring a picnic lunch if fine, as we can have that there, and after seeing that site, drive to Ramshead via Renwick. We should be finished about 4.30pm I expect.
A four-wheel drive is not necessary, but good footwear is if you want to go off track among your trees.
2001 Budget Contributions
This is not finalised yet. The largest cost is Boron applied to the 160ha Chimney Creek stand a week ago, so that needs to be paid next month. This year's contribution should be $550 per unit. Full details v. shortly.
Site Reports & Photos on The Web
Yes we too have got one: WarrenForestry.com. There you'll find copies of recent reports and photos although for the time being you will still get them in the post too. (The Web is a very long way from the 'paper-less society' in my view)
Also on our site is our next project, a structural timber investment. It will be two-thirds Douglas-fir, one-third high density unpruned Radiata. Provisionally, it's called 'Woodstock Downs Forest Investment'.

PS: I had a couple of calls about the big Marlborough fire. It was 20km east of Ramshead, in much drier coastal country. And yes, you are fully insured.
