Six Hills Forest Partnership
Site Visit - $$$ - Tax - Growth - Website
20 February 2001

Dear Partner,

Site Visit
On Saturday week, the 10th of March, at Glens of Tekoa I will be available from 9.30am to take partners through your two large sites there - GT7 (Radiata) and GT10 (Douglas-fir).
Please register your interest by phone, fax or email as soon as you are able to, and I will give you more detail and directions. You do not need a four-wheel drive but please bring one if you can.
These stands are 3.5 and 4.5 years old respectively. Those of you who saw them two or three years ago might be surprised by the change and also interested to see the 5.5 year old Amuri Hills Forest Partnership's two stands, which we will also visit.
We will leave there at about 1.15pm, and those who wish could come to Leslie Hills where you have a smaller Radiata stand (LH2). However we will not have much time at that site, as we will be looking at Amuri Hills and Triple Ridge Forest Partnerships' stands as well.

Contributions this year & Budget
Enclosed you'll find a statement requesting this year's contribution be paid as soon as possible.
The sum needed this year should only come to $150 per unit as outlined on the draft budget enclosed.

Stand Growth
You'll see from the budget there is not a great deal other than the relentless growth of your stands going on this year. They are getting past the establishment phase now and so over nearly all of the planted area of each stand, the trees are well above and starting to dominate competing vegetation. Where they are not, they probably will not make it to become crop trees, or only some will.
Later in the year we will spend some time measuring tree size on AH2 at Ahuriri, which will then be starting its sixth year. That is to assess when the optimum time to start pruning is, to maximise the value added by that operation. It was originally scheduled to begin later next year. Assessment will tell us whether to reschedule that earlier or later. Next year we'll do the same for the other three stands.

Tax Deduction Certificates & Financial Statements
The partnership's financial year ended 31st December so the financial statements for last year are being prepared and will be audited within the next few weeks. You will receive a copy together with a certificate showing your share of the partnership's tax loss. You will be able to deduct that from your taxable income for the year to 31 March 2001, which will mean less tax to pay or a refund.

Unit for Sale
A partner has one unit for sale. Please contact me if you are interested in adding it to yours. The price will of course be a matter between the parties concerned and for them to negotiate.

Photos & Reports On Line
You can now find us on the web at the address below. Reports (not budgets or accounts etc), and photos, some of which will not have been sent out, will be there too. And of course, there are some details of what we are creating next. That by the way, will be an 85% Douglas-fir scheme called 'Woodstock Downs Forest Investment', based there, on Mt Whitnow, Glens of Tekoa, and Ahuriri (the Radiata).

In due course most of you may want, and be able to get, everything from us by email. Tell us if you do.

Kind regards

Charles Etherington
